Who is a Meek ?

Definition: Mild of temper; not easily provoked or irritated; patient under injuries; not haughty, or resentful; forbearing; submissive.

Many equate Meekness with weakness. Many associate meekness with an attitude of allowing everyone to run over you because you are afraid of them. This is not meekness. In fact, some of the strongest men who have ever lived have been meek.

BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE MEEK?

An understanding of the root definition of meek in the original language and how it was used will help us in understanding what Jesus meant. The Hebrew word translated "meekness" as anav or anaw, meaning "depressed , humble, lowly, meek. The Greek word, prautes means meekness, mildness, humility.

Prautes, according to Aristotle, is the middle standing between two extremes, getting angry without reason, and not getting angry at all. Therefore, prautes is getting angry at the right time, in the right measure, and for the right reason. It is a condition of mind and heart which demonstrates gentleness, not in weakness, but in power. It is a balance born in strength of character.

The 'meek' are those who can think thoughts of peace in the middle of a war and remain untouched...
They are those who can plant a garden in the middle of a battlefield...

To be meek does not imply weakness,on the contrary, it takes much personal power .
"It is the weak that are cruel...it takes great strength to show mercy and kindness..."

This doesn't mean that you can't express anger and forceful action...it means; 'Thou shalt not violate life, nature, or the earth during the pursuit of your happiness and ideals...'

Ultimately a  Meek is a person who is having a Silent Mind.
